Manises Town Council has signed a new agreement with the Valencian Ceramics Association Avec-Gremio approving a grant of 18,500 euros to the group. The aim is to promote ceramic activity and to collaborate with the preservation of this activity, which is so deeply rooted in the municipality of l’Horta Sud.
This was announced by the mayor, Jesús Borrás Sanchis this morning, during the meeting with the president of the group, José Vicente Montesa Jorge, in which both have agreed on the “immaterial value of the potter’s trade” and the “importance of preserving its activity”.
The mayor said that the annual agreement was “a boost because the organisation works to defend and promote ceramics, the benchmark of Manises” and, for this reason, Borràs remarked, “we will make every effort on behalf of the council to promote ceramics in the way it deserves”.
As part of the agreement signed this morning, the council and the cultural entity are committed to collaborating on different activities together. In this sense, the agreement includes coordination with the Department of Tourism and Promotion of Ceramics at fairs in Manises, especially at the Ceramics Fair – for craft demonstrations – and the Ceramics Parade.
Thus, within the security measures in front of the Covid-19, both the president and the mayor have collided elbows to formalise this agreement for another year.
