The exhibition that traveled to the Portuguese city of Barcelos last January now lands at the Center d’Art l’Estació de Dénia.
‘Plats de Manises’ provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the ceramic and culinary heritage of Manises. Showing pieces made by various artisans and workshops in the town: Aliarte Cerámica, Arturo Mora, Cerámicas Chenoll, Cerámicas Palanca, Plat y Bol, Pepe Royo, Domanises, Drac Ceramico, Gresnaler, la Botiga de Gema, José Gimeno, Rafael Mora and Art TVS.
The inauguration of the exhibition of typical Manises plates will take place on January 19th, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. and will remain open to the public until February 25, 2024, every day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Javier Mansilla, mayor of Manises, highlights that “this exhibition shows the connection between our local cuisine and ceramics, the remarkable identity of Manises, which together form amazing synergies that reflect our rich culture, gastronomy, and tradition.”
The mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, has highlighted “the existing collaboration between Manises and Dénia within the UNESCO Creative Cities network, and even more so when ceramics and gastronomy are cultural fields closely linked and very representative of the character and identity of our people.”
In addition, on the opening day, a “show cooking” will be held in the hands of chef Miquel Ruiz, owner of the El Baret de Miquel restaurant, who has previously collaborated with the Ceramics Museum and the Manises City Council. During the demonstration, he will share his experience and knowledge about the relationship between ceramics and gastronomy and will prepare a culinary preparation that will be presented on one of the plates from the Lebrillo collection by Cerámicas Palanca, thus fusing ceramic and gastronomic art. In addition, in the exhibition, there will be a representation of artisanal ceramics from the Marina Alta, with works by Cristina Pedrós, Magary Things and Joan Esquerdo.
