Manises has celebrated the opening ceremony of the 15th edition of the International Ceramics Biennial and has awarded the prizes of this prestigious international competition, which recognises the value of ceramic art and highlights its traditional and avant-garde character.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the artistic ceramics modality, the President of the Generalitat Valenciana prize, worth 5,000 euros, went to the work My Garden of Eden, by Rafael Jim\u00e9nez Chac\u00f3n (Seville), and the Diputaci\u00f3 de Val\u00e8ncia prize, worth 3,000 euros, to Folding in Motion, by Simcha Eve-Chen (Rehovot, Israel).<\/span><\/p>\n

Also recognised were the works Pesantezza, by Fernanda Cort\u00e9s (Mexico) with the City of V\u00e9nissieux prize for under-35s, endowed with 1,800 euros, and Globe, by Eloisa Gobbo (P\u00e0dova, Italy) with the Fundaci\u00f3n Museo de Montelupo prize, endowed with an artistic residency in this city twinned with Manises.<\/span><\/p>\n

Likewise, the City of Manises prize in the modality of ceramic product design, endowed with 3,000 euros, went to the work Fire Works, by Ubaldo Crist\u00f3bal Serrano (Madrid), “for using the thermal possibilities of ceramics to incorporate fire and heat into interiors, in a design with a high technical and aesthetic level”.<\/span><\/p>\n

These works, as well as the 56 finalists selected from among the 597 submitted to this competition, form part of an exhibition between 10 June and 9 September in the Los Filtros hall, and are included in the catalogue published for the Biennial.<\/span><\/p>\n

During these three months, different activities will also take place with ceramics as the common thread, such as conferences and cinema, and the exhibition of the works of the winning artists of the previous edition. Thus, the exhibition Donde vamos, by Carie Oltmann, winner of the 2019 City of Manises Product Design Award, can be visited at the Museo de la Cer\u00e1mica from 6 June to 9 September; and Casa 8, by Uxue L\u00f3pez, winner of the President of the Generalitat Valenciana Award in the previous edition, from 9 June to 9 September in the Vicent Ros room at the Casa de Cultura.<\/span><\/p>\n
