Ceràmica Oberta is an event that aims to connect the general public with Manises ceramics in a close and direct way. It is a day when you can meet manufacturers, artisans and artists who work with ceramics every day.
On this special day, all kinds of activities take place, from workshops for both children and adults to demonstrations of techniques that will leave you amazed.
Ceramics centres and workshops open their doors so that you can discover what lies behind each piece and see how we go from clay to the finished product.
You will also have the opportunity to purchase pieces made by the participants using different techniques and materials: jewellery, tableware, decorative items and more.

WORKSHOP LIST
AVEC Gremio
The Valencian Ceramics Association offers a series of workshops led by professionals. Come to the centre, find a spot and get hands-on. You will be able to take part in the following activities:
- Porcelain Flower Workshop, led by Mercedes Almazán from Porcelanas Mercedes.
In this workshop, you will discover the techniques used to create small porcelain flowers like those used in the jewellery made by this artisan.
- Socarrat Workshop, led by José Luis Camarena from Socarrat Artesanía.
Learn how to make a socarrat, one of the most popular pieces of Valencian craftsmanship.
- Modelling Workshop, led by Antonio Cordero.
Discover the key techniques of ceramic sculpture and learn how to model with clay.
- Ceramic Wicker Workshop for Adults, led by Vicente Martínez.
He will teach you how to create unique ceramic wicker pieces, a technique he has been working with since he was eight years old.
- Ceramic Wicker Workshop for Children, led by Rosa García.
She will introduce children to the possibilities of ceramic wicker, helping them become familiar with the technique while having fun creating playful shapes.
- Tile Decoration Workshop, led by Francisco Álvarez.
Learn how to paint 18th-century-style tiles featuring flowers, animals and characters.
- Modelling Workshop for Children, led by Isabel Aguiló.
In this workshop, the youngest participants can have fun modelling clay using a variety of techniques.
You will also be able to visit the permanent exhibition and the shop featuring Manises craft pieces, as well as attend one of the film screenings.
ANPEC
The National Association of Ceramic Professionals will have a stand on Torrent Street, where they will offer visitors a variety of workshops and demonstrations.

CERÁMICAS PALANCA
The doors of Cerámicas Palanca will open so that everyone can discover the manufacturing process behind yellow earthenware—the mortars, jars and bowls that have become icons of Valencian gastronomy.
Alfredo will be your host during this visit, which is sure to delight visitors of all ages. A combination of industry and craftsmanship that you won’t want to miss.
SCULPTOR MARIBEL MARTÍNEZ
Maribel, a ceramic sculptor famous for her Meninas and murals, will open the doors of her workshop for a live demonstration of the process behind creating her sculptures.
ALIARTE
Alicia, an expert in creating decorative pieces, tableware and ceramic jewellery, will open the doors of her workshop so that you can make your own ceramic piece with her guidance and supervision.
CERÁMICAS PEPE ROYO
Pepe Royo will give a wheel-throwing demonstration on Torrent Street, outside his workshop, allowing you to discover the secrets of this complex technique, which can be used to create a wide variety of shapes.
DRAC CERÁMICO
David Sánchez and Concha Arjona will open the doors of their workshop to showcase their work and offer a participatory wheel-throwing demonstration where you can discover the secrets of this technique.
ARTS CERAMICS ANA PALÉS
Ana Palés will have a stand on Torrent Street where she will explain and demonstrate how she creates some of her pieces.
CASA MAYOLICA
This space, dating back to 1872, will open its doors with Corina and Lorenzo so that visitors can admire its tiled walls and floors, ceramic pieces and decorative elements from different periods. A wonderful example of how ceramics have been an essential part of homes in Manises for more than 150 years.
LA BOTIGA DE GEMA
At La Botiga de Gema, you can find ceramic pieces made using different styles and techniques throughout the year. During Ceràmica Oberta, you will meet Jesús, the artisan behind all these creations, at the workshops on Torrent Street. He will teach you how to paint tiles with cold paint to create your own magnets.
